While typing this post I continued searching for other opinions on the ER-X vs ER-L. Again it seems most are leaning towards the ER-L and I'm leaning towards the ER-X because its nearly half the cost.

i only have one hard drive for now, so i have it in the icy dock hooked to the router, asus rt-16n, and i can stream just fine using Mplayer. (With two hard drives, i would assume you need that usb to esata adapter from DATOptics.) UPDATE: Dec. 4, 2015: WOW! I am still impressed. Flawless and never jitters or stutters.
